Italian Telecom Operator Sells BenQ MID in Italy

Taiwanese BenQ announced on September 25 that Italian telecom operator TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile), through its Internet service provider Alice Mobile, has launched BenQ's S6 MID (Mobile Internet Device) based on Intel's Atom platform in Italy, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily News.

On TIM's website, Alice Mobile MID S6 featuring WiFi (Wireless Fidelity), Bluetooth, 7.2Mbps HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access), and SSD (Solid State Drives) is priced at 420 Euros (US$612.3; US$1 = 0.7 Euro). Meanwhile, TIM is offering a MID for free if users subscribe to a two-year plan paying 30 Euro (US$43.8) per month.
